KARACHI: A citizen of Karachi has reported the theft of a pair of expensive dogs from a bungalow in the upscale Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6 area.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at Darakhshan police station on the request of dog trainer Nelson, who suspected that his friend Eric had stolen two huskies, a breed of thick-coated Arctic sled dogs.
The First Information Report (FIR), a copy of which was obtained, stated that the theft was likely pre-planned by Eric, as he had familiarized himself with the dogs a few days earlier.
Nelson claimed that the expensive dogs were stolen last week. He further stated in his complaint that his “friend” tricked his way into taking the dogs out of the bungalow and then fled.
Police officials confirmed that an investigation into the case had been initiated.
Brutal Killing of a Rare Breed Dog “Joji”
In 2023, a policeman and four others were charged with the brutal killing of a rare breed dog named “Joji” in Karachi, allegedly out of vengeance.
The police had registered an FIR against five suspects—Mustafa, Waheed Kohati, Ali Sohni, Khalid Attock, and Constable Ali Hassan Shah.
The plaintiff in the case, Riaz Hussain, claimed that he had a heated argument with Ali and Mustafa regarding his two-year-old dog, as they had previously attempted to steal it. The suspects had allegedly threatened to kill the canine, saying its days were numbered.
Hussain further alleged that the suspects stole Joji on February 10. The dog was later found dead in a trash heap in Hill Park on February 12. The plaintiff stated that those responsible had killed the dog in a brutal manner, leaving severe burn marks on its chest.
