The Truth Hidden Behind the Light: The World of the Deep State!
By: Raja Zahid Akhtar Khanzada
The real system of the world may not be what our eyes see daily on TV, or what newspapers polish and present with ink. Somewhere behind this formal stage, another theater is running silent, mysterious, and with complete discipline. This theater is what the world calls the “deep state.”
The deep state may appear to be a conspiratorial concept, but when you flip through the pages of history, the truth is often hidden between those very lines. These are the unelected forces that, sitting behind the curtain of public representatives, play the real moves.
Military institutions, intelligence agencies, secret bureaucracy, judicial circles, and sometimes even the media can all be part of this shadowy network.
In Pakistan, the concept of the “deep state” is not new. When political governments kept changing repeatedly and the military uniform remained in power for years, the public understood where the real center of power lies. General Asim Munir calling Kashmir the “jugular vein” was not just a statement it was a declaration that the national narrative still echoes in the corridors of GHQ. And the policy that had changed in the previous era is no longer the same.
Thus, judicial decisions, the direction of the media, and the files of politicians all turn with the flick of these unseen hands.
India is the world’s largest democracy, but there, the deep state has fused the Hindutva ideology so tightly into the state structure that now even judicial decisions like the Babri Masjid case or the revocation of Article 370 seem to endorse a political ideology.
The regional role of RAW, the human rights violations in Kashmir, and the government-aligned media all offer a glimpse of another “stage behind the curtain.”
Similarly, in the place that calls itself the flag-bearer of freedom America the triangle of the CIA, NASA, and the Pentagon has cast a web in which governments may change, but foreign policy, war agendas, and surveillance protocols do not.
From Afghanistan to Ukraine, from oil to microchips these are not just economic stories, but secret agreements of an establishment hidden in deep shadows.
Trump himself admitted that the “deep state” is working against him.
In the same way, where the echo of the deep state is heard, now in the form of the dark web, another world exists in today’s digital era. What appears on the surface of the world is often only one aspect of reality. Behind the curtain, another world resides.
The dark web is that place where the activities of the deep state, secret agreements, and illegal transactions take place, and where the real games of power are played. The dark web is that part of the internet which remains hidden from ordinary search engines and can only be accessed through special software like Tor or I2P.
Here, users conduct their activities in complete anonymity, which makes it ideal for the exchange of secret information, illegal trade, and espionage. The dark web it is that part of the internet which is invisible to Google’s eye, where secret documents, government leaks, arms deals, surveillance tools, and fake identity trading all take place.
The deep state, which is a hidden power structure within the state, uses the dark web to pursue its objectives. This is the very place where WikiLeaks once exposed the secret operations of the American military. This is the shadowy marketplace where some secrets of the deep state are revealed, and some become even more complex.
The question is: are we truly sovereign nations, or merely puppets dancing on the fingers of invisible powers rather than the visible rulers? The existence of the deep state does not only mean conspiracy it is a bitter truth that power does not always reside in the light.
According to Al Jazeera, Reuters, and Amnesty India, in the Babri Masjid verdict (2019), the Indian Supreme Court awarded the disputed land to the Ram Mandir, which was met with global criticism. According to The Wire, The Hindu, and BBC, after the revocation of Article 370 (2019), military control increased in Kashmir, and the fundamental rights of Kashmiris were severely affected.
According to Forbidden Stories and Amnesty International, in the Pegasus spying scandal (2021), Indian journalists, politicians, and human rights activists were surveilled, and the involvement of the government and intelligence agencies was strongly suggested.
According to The Guardian, The New York Times, and WikiLeaks, the Iraq war (2003) was initiated by the CIA and Pentagon based on false intelligence, including fabricated claims of “weapons of mass destruction.” The information disclosed by Edward Snowden (2013) revealed that the NSA was conducting mass surveillance on citizens, world leaders, and journalists, which was published by The Washington Post and The Guardian.
Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks brought to light videos and reports of secret U.S. military operations especially the killings of civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan which raised global questions about the hidden role of the deep state.
According to BBC, Deutsche Welle, and Al Jazeera, General Faiz Hameed’s connections with the Taliban in Afghanistan and his political maneuvering within the country reflect his establishment role. In 2017, the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif based on the Panama Papers was also considered the result of establishment influence, as reported by The Guardian and The New York Times.
According to a Human Rights Watch report, the role of the military in the 2018 elections raised serious questions about the transparency of the electoral process.
According to FBI court records and Wired magazine, in the Silk Road case (2011–2013), illegal arms, drugs, and fake identities were traded through the dark web. WikiLeaks’ Vault 7 leak (2017) revealed CIA cyber tools, hacking software, and methods used to carry out covert operations via the dark web, exposing the technical weapons of the American deep state to the world.
At a time when the world is echoing with slogans of democracy, transparency, and sovereignty, the question becomes even more important: Is the voice of the people truly decisive? Or are we merely spectators, clapping to a predetermined script? The existence of the deep state is not just a conspiracy theory, but a harsh reality that forces us to reexamine the meaning of state, power, and freedom.
If the world truly desires to be free and transparent, this shadowy system must be exposed otherwise, we will continue to live in the same fog, where truth remains merely a rumor.
