In a chilling tale of deception and horror, Anthony Shore, a seemingly ordinary family man, was revealed to be a serial killer who preyed on girls and young women for over a decade.
Despite his outward appearance as a husband, father, and brother, Shore harbored a dark secret that went unnoticed by those around him. Retired Houston Police Homicide detective DD Shirley described him as the epitome of evil concealed behind a facade of normalcy.
Shore’s reign of terror came to light in 2003 when DNA evidence linked him to the 1992 murder of Maria Del Carmen Estrada, a 21-year-old who was sexually assaulted and strangled. Following his arrest, Shore confessed to four other killings, including 15-year-old Laurie Tremblay, 9-year-old Diana Rebollar, and 16-year-old Dana Sanchez, all of whom were also strangled to death. In three of the cases, Shore used a handmade tourniquet as a weapon.
Former Harris County Prosecutor Terese Buess noted that Shore’s crimes transcended mere acts of passion or substance-induced violence, describing his actions as a chilling way of life.
Shore’s reign of terror extended beyond murder, as he also confessed to breaking into the home of a 14-year-old girl in 1993, where he bound her in duct tape and sexually assaulted her. Miraculously, she survived by bravely fighting back.
In the latest episode of “Texas True Crime,” Jessica Willey delves into Shore’s shocking confessions and speaks with those who witnessed the case unfold firsthand. Additionally, Shore’s sister provides insight into what it was like growing up with a brother who would ultimately be revealed as a serial killer.
“Texas True Crime: Tourniquet Killer” is now available for streaming on the ABC13 app.
