The true reasons behind the dissolution of Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck’s relationship have now come to light, as detailed by author Amy Odell in her new book, Gwyneth: The Biography.
The Downfall of a Romance: Infidelity and Personal Struggles
Odell claims in her book that infidelity may have been the cause of the ex-couple’s three-year romance, which spanned from 1997 to 2000. According to an excerpt obtained by People magazine, Amy alleges, “Their physical chemistry couldn’t overcome his self-destructive impulses, which may have even included cheating on her.”
The author further claims that after their breakup, Gwyneth reportedly remarked, “I love men, even though they’re lying, cheating scumbags.”
Amy Odell’s book also highlights that Affleck was grappling with alcoholism and a gambling habit around the time he met Paltrow. Her friends reportedly harbored reservations about him because he “didn’t always reciprocate her affection.” The author adds that Affleck “at times seemed more interested in playing video games with the guys at his house than being with Gwyneth.”
For those unaware, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck dated on and off for three years before ultimately ending their relationship in 1999.
