BERLIN, Oct. 10 (Reuters) – German cartel authorities said on Thursday that they had concluded their investigation into Meta (META.O) and now have a fresh look at how personal data is used. They said that the U.S. owner of Facebook and Instagram had agreed to take measures to address the concerns.
Andreas Mundt, president of the cartel office, stated, “The key point here is that using Facebook no longer requires consent to the unlimited collection and allocation of data to one’s own user account, even if the data does not actually arise in the Facebook service.”
