GAZA, PALESTINE:
The announcement of intermediate examination results in the Gaza Strip has been overshadowed by a profound humanitarian tragedy. Several brilliant male and female students who achieved stellar results in their final exams were confirmed to have been killed in the ongoing Israeli military bombardment and attacks, robbing them of the chance to celebrate their academic success.
Among these heartbreaking stories is that of Doaa Nazmi Abu Dalal from the Nuseirat refugee camp. Doaa achieved an outstanding score of 96.7 percent in her intermediate exams, yet she did not live to witness her exceptional academic achievement.
Doaa Abu Dalal was considered an example of determination and resilience among her peers and teachers. However, her promising future and dreams were tragically cut short during an Israeli air raid that followed a violation of the ceasefire in late October. In that attack, Doaa, along with 18 members of her family, was killed.
The release of these results coincides with a period where Gaza’s entire education sector lies devastated, and thousands of students are deprived of the opportunity to continue their schooling. The poignant contrast between academic triumph and subsequent death vividly exposes the brutal and long-lasting human cost of the conflict in Gaza.
