Mumbai, India – Veteran and versatile Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee has exposed a prevailing bitter reality within the film industry, where he claims that fellow actors are plagued by a sense of insecurity and refrain from openly appreciating each other’s work.
Appearing on an Indian media show alongside the cast of his recent hit series, ‘The Family Man Season 3,’ the 56-year-old actor, who hails from Bihar, revealed that actors rarely commend each other’s work because of a fear of competition. He stated, “Bollywood actors never praise each other; they never call someone to appreciate their work because they feel very insecure themselves.”
An Exception Amidst the Insecurity
During the conversation, co-actor Jaideep Ahlawat cited Bajpayee’s appreciation as a rare, emotional exception within this atmosphere of insecurity. Ahlawat disclosed that he was moved to tears when Manoj Bajpayee praised his performance in the series ‘Paatal Lok Season 1.’
Jaideep revealed that after the release of Paatal Lok, Bajpayee called him late at night and spoke for fifteen to twenty minutes—a gesture he will never forget. Bajpayee admitted that he told Jaideep Ahlawat at the time that he should open an institution, and he would enroll as a student.
Bajpayee stated that he still calls people to praise their work because he is a “struggler by birth” and remains free from that fear.
Manoj Bajpayee and Jaideep Ahlawat have previously worked together in the iconic 2012 crime drama ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and the war drama ‘Chittagong.’ In the latest season of The Family Man 3, Manoj reprises his role as Srikant Tiwari while Jaideep plays the villain, Rukma.
