In a joint press conference, the Dominican Republic’s National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) and a U.S. embassy spokesperson announced that American military jets destroyed a speedboat carrying 1,000 kilograms of cocaine. The strike occurred 80 nautical miles from the Dominican island of Beata and is the same attack that President Donald Trump announced on Friday.
According to a DNCD spokesperson, the operation was a joint effort between the U.S. and the Dominican Republic. An unnamed source close to the investigation believes the speedboat originated from Venezuela. This is the latest in a series of U.S. attacks on alleged drug vessels in the Caribbean.
