The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is scheduled to vote today on a crucial resolution designed to support US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan. This draft resolution, which represents a new effort towards resolving the decades-long conflict, is being backed by the United States and several Muslim nations.
However, the impending vote is overshadowed by intense political tension, as extremist ministers within the Israeli government have openly expressed profound reservations regarding the resolution’s content.
Addressing the concerns of his right-wing cabinet members during a meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured them that their steadfast opposition to the creation of a Palestinian state would remain absolutely firm, regardless of the pressure.
Netanyahu stated emphatically that despite “external and internal pressure,” there has been “no difference whatsoever” in their stance against a Palestinian state. He reiterated that this long-standing opposition would continue, regardless of whether the path is easy or difficult, adding a critical condition that Hamas “must be disarmed at all costs.”
