HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Get ready for a hot week ahead!
A ridge of high pressure will continue to build overhead as we head throughout the work week bringing temperatures back up into the mid to upper 90s.
Monday will start off with lows in the mid 70s but will top out in the mid 90s by the afternoon. We could see a few isolated showers Monday but most of us will stay dry.
With astronomical fall starting next week, will it actually feel like it?
Nope. In fact, it’s only going to get hotter as the week goes on. A strong heat ridge is going to build over Texas and the southeast United States that could break record highs. There’s even an outside chance that triple-digit heat will return to parts of Southeast Texas, so keep that fall wardrobe in the closet for next week.
What’s happening in the tropics?
Hurricane Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico today. It is expected to stay east of the east coast of the United States but the Dominican Republic and Turks and Caicos will be in for a very strong storm as it turns more to the north. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
