Streets around Dallas will close this week for the BMW Dallas Marathon, which is expected to draw thousands of runners to downtown this weekend. Closures for marathon setup will begin Wednesday outside City Hall and include stretches of Akard, Ervay, Field, Marilla and Young streets, according to the city. Several of the closures will last until 6 a.m. Monday. A portion of the race proceeds are donated to charity, and since 1997 the event’s primary beneficiary, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, has received more than $4 million. ADVERTISEMENT On Friday, participants will join a two-lap race around Dallas City Hall Plaza, with events for walkers and runners. The 50K ultramarathon, marathon, half-marathon and marathon relay take place Sunday, and a 10K, 5K and kids’ 100-yard dash are planned for Saturday. Parking restrictions will include hooded meters and no-parking zones along the race route. Dallas Area Rapid Transit is available for runners and spectators at the start and finish lines.
