Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has acknowledged the gas supply deficiencies occurring during Sehar and Iftar in the month of Ramadan, and has mandated immediate actions to guarantee a continuous supply for consumers. In response to public grievances, the prime minister convened an urgent meeting late Monday night, which included the managing directors and senior officials of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). The meeting centered on resolving gas supply issues, particularly in regions experiencing low pressure. Following the Prime Minister’s directives, SSGC announced an immediate 10 percent increase in gas pressure. Furthermore, to alleviate supply challenges, gas distribution in areas situated at the end of supply lines will commence 30 to 45 minutes prior to Sehar and Iftar to stabilize pressure levels. To oversee the situation, SSGC has established control rooms at its head office and regional centers, which will monitor daily gas supply and address complaints promptly. “Complaints regarding low gas pressure will be handled as a priority, and a daily report will be submitted,” an SSGC spokesperson stated. Simultaneously, SNGPL has also assured consumers of uninterrupted gas supply during Sehar and Iftar. “In accordance with the Prime Minister’s directives, we are taking immediate steps to ensure that citizens do not encounter difficulties during these critical hours,” an SNGPL spokesperson affirmed. Consumers are advised to report any complaints by contacting the company’s helpline at 1199.
