Chaos erupted at the Supreme Court of Pakistan building in Islamabad today following a powerful explosion in the basement canteen.
According to initial reports, the blast was caused by a cylinder explosion. It apparently occurred while repair work was being done on an air conditioning (AC) plant. Several employees and other individuals present in the canteen were injured as a result of the incident.
The explosion was reportedly so powerful that it shook the main Supreme Court building, causing damage to the ceilings. Panic spread among lawyers, court staff, and visitors, who immediately evacuated the premises and gathered in open areas outside.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene promptly to provide aid and transported the injured to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Due to the serious nature of the incident, a bomb disposal squad was also dispatched to the Supreme Court to investigate the precise cause of the blast and ensure the area was safe. Officials have stated that this is a developing story and further details are still being gathered.
