The 10th Special Olympics Pakistan Marathon Race 2025 was held in Karachi today, featuring competitive races across multiple categories.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Olympic medalist Arshad Nadeem were present at the event, along with hundreds of enthusiastic participants.
Under the patronage of Governor Tessori, the event saw remarkable performances, with winners announced for both men’s and women’s categories in each race.
The marathon included races of 21.2 kilometers, 10 kilometers, 5 kilometers, and 1 kilometer, drawing participants from diverse backgrounds.
In the men’s 21.2 km half marathon, Qasim Bajwa claimed first place, with Faizan Zulfikar securing second and Muhammad Sajjad finishing third. In the women’s half marathon, Natasha Hassan triumphed, followed by Sahrish Khan in second and Kokab Sarwar in third.
The event also featured 10 km races, where Mahnoor Fatima claimed victory in the women’s category, and Shakir Usman emerged as the winner in the men’s category. In the 5 km race, Qandeel Sultan clinched the title for women, while Muhammad Ziaullah took the men’s title.
Governor Tessori, who graced the event, emphasized the importance of inclusivity and sportsmanship, saying, “People are being given opportunities, and everyone must move forward together.” He shared his thoughts with the media during the closing ceremony.
Tessori also announced that all future races would be organized under the Governor House’s auspices, underscoring the government’s commitment to promoting sports activities.
The marathon also featured a special children’s walk, with children with special needs actively participating. Governor Tessori praised their spirit and paid tribute to their parents.
Tessori highlighted Pakistan’s peace-loving nature, stating, “We must show the world that we Pakistanis are peace-loving people.” He further affirmed that the Governor House will always remain open for sports activities.
Governor Tessori also mentioned his visit to Mian Channu to meet Arshad Nadeem, where he discussed his decision to support the Special Olympics marathon in Karachi.
Meanwhile, the federal capital also hosted the 5th Islamabad Marathon, which began with 5 km, 10 km, half, and full marathon races, attracting a large number of runners and spectators.
