State-owned enterprises have incurred a massive loss of Rs851.37 billion over the past two years, bringing their total cumulative deficit to Rs5.748 trillion.
According to the performance report for FY 2023-24, the National Highway Authority recorded the highest loss at Rs295.58 billion.
Quetta Electric Supply Company reported a loss of Rs120.45 billion, while Peshawar Electric Supply Company faced a deficit of Rs88.72 billion.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) recorded a loss of Rs73.59 billion, whereas Pakistan Railways suffered losses amounting to Rs51.37 billion.
Losses in Other State-Owned Enterprises
Sukkur Electric Power Company reported a loss of Rs37 billion, while Lahore Electric Supply Company recorded Rs34.19 billion in losses.
Pakistan Steel Mills incurred losses of Rs31.19 billion.
Islamabad Electric Supply Company faced a deficit of Rs15.80 billion, while Hyderabad Electric Supply Company reported losses of Rs22.20 billion.
