In a recent interview, Snoop Dogg opened up about the key to his enduring marriage with Shante Broadus, his high school sweetheart. The “Young, Wild & Free” rapper married Shante in 1997, and despite facing challenges over the years, they have remained committed to one another.
The couple briefly separated in 2004 but reconciled and renewed their vows four years later. Reflecting on their relationship, Snoop told *People* magazine, “When we said we’d marry, we married ’til death do us part. Not ’til arguments, fighting, or finances do us part, but till death.”
The 52-year-old artist admitted that the early days of their relationship were difficult, especially with the pressures of newfound success. He recalled thinking, “Some things I want you to be a part of, some things I don’t to protect you,” but later realized, “she should have been there the whole way to protect me.”
Describing his role in the relationship, Snoop stated, “I’m a loving, caring, providing husband. My wife has never worked a day in her life, and I love that I’m in a position where she doesn’t have to. I am the work, and she is my backbone.”
He credited Shante for teaching him “patience, understanding what family is, and making time for family.” As advice for a lasting marriage, he said, “Find out what your companion loves the most and concentrate on doing it. That’s real love.”
Together, Snoop Dogg and Shante have three children and several grandchildren, celebrating a love that has withstood the test of time.
