Luka Stucin, who hails from Slovenia and bears a striking resemblance to Luka Doncic, is currently in Dallas not to play basketball, but to cover the sport.
“We’re here for the basketball and probably for some barbecue and ribs,” Stucin said. “We came here with the Slovenian Official Broadcasting Television, broadcasting the NBA.”
Stucin emphasized the significance of his trip, particularly because it marks Doncic’s first appearance in the NBA Finals and his profound impact on their homeland.
“He’s really a superstar there,” Stucin noted. “People are waking up in the middle of the night because you have to know when the game is played in the U.S., it’s probably around two or three or four in the morning.”
Reflecting on Wednesday’s game, Stucin described it as an emotional rollercoaster.
“A bit exhausting because you are just like you are happy, you are down, you are sad, you’re happy,” Stucin remarked. “I don’t know, it’s been a rollercoaster really.”
Despite the highs and lows, Stucin acknowledged the realistic expectations.
“We’re kind of realistic,” he admitted. “As much as we love Luka, we know that he is not superhuman. He is not Superman. It’s probably that the series is over.”
Nevertheless, Stucin hasn’t completely abandoned hope. He expressed his desire to see Doncic and the Mavericks secure more victories because of his fondness for Dallas.
“That they come back to Dallas, that would be interesting because it would mean we’d stay in Dallas for a few days more, so that would be fantastic,” Stucin concluded.
