The Sindh government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the province’s integrity, amid growing demands for constitutional reforms. During a press conference in Sukkur, Provincial Minister Naseer Hussain Shah stated that the government, establishment, and judiciary had conspired against the people during the PTI-led regime, resulting in the imprisonment of women and large-scale repressive measures.
Shah emphasized that the proposed constitutional amendments would strengthen the country, and the PPP has fully supported the reforms. He categorically stated that the PPP would never allow Sindh to be divided. The provincial minister also announced that the government is conducting a crackdown on the notorious ‘Kutchi’ dacoits, and a joint operation is necessary to tackle the issue.
Shah praised the bravery of police officers in Shikarpur, who confronted the dacoits with courage. In a separate development, the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions in Sindh has stepped up action against private educational institutions that have not implemented the freedom of education law, following a recent court order.
Meanwhile, the MQM has stated that its leader, Shamaila Imran Farooq, was undergoing cancer treatment in a London hospital. MQM Pakistan’s central leader, Dr. Farooq Sattar, emphasized that the community policing system cannot be effective until the role of the mayor is clearly defined in the law.
The Sindh government has also written to India, expressing concerns over the shortage of water in the province. In a separate development, the Chief Minister of Sindh chaired a meeting in Karachi to discuss the infrastructure of industrial areas.
In a separate incident, a police officer in Rawalpindi was suspended and charged with accepting bribes from citizens. Rescue workers responded to the situation by telling the officer to come down after he climbed onto a crane. In another incident, the President of the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park Advisory Board attended a ceremony at the Pakistan Air Force Academy in Korangi.
