Sindh Minister for Local Government Nisar Hussain Shah has stated that the government has not barred the judicial commission from investigating the tragic incident of the Gul Plaza fire. In an interview on Geo News’ program “Capital Talk,” Shah emphasized that the government wants a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. The rescue team of the 1122 service took approximately 40 minutes to reach the scene, and Shah stated that a big tragedy had occurred, which has saddened everyone; this incident is enough to open eyes, and now it is essential to move forward to prevent such incidents from happening again. Shah further stated that working together for the betterment of Sindh is more beneficial than discussing the division of the province or handing over Karachi to the federal government. He expressed his concern over the discussions regarding the division of Sindh and handing over Karachi to the federal government, stating that such talk was not necessary after the tragic incident.
A committee formed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Sardar Tariq Masood, under the chairmanship of Justice Sardar Fazal-e-Hasan Arif, has issued a statement after its meeting. The statement reads that the application filed by the father of the deceased, Sajid Hussain, has been accepted, and a case has been registered against the project manager, safety officer, and site supervisor of the project on charges of causing the death of the deceased due to negligence.
The spokesperson for the MQM stated that a high-level investigative commission should be formed under the Commission of Inquiry Act 2017. The police have registered a case against the project manager, safety officer, and site supervisor under Section 322 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
In a separate development, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in which she was briefed on the Mian Haul incident in Lahore. The briefing stated that the site where the incident occurred was under construction, the mother and daughter were living with their relatives in Lahore, and the rescue team started their operation on time.
The spokesperson for the Sindh Education Department stated that for the first time, government schools have been strengthened administratively in the province.
