Sindh Government Announces Public Holiday on Benazir Bhutto’s Death Anniversary
The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on December 27, the anniversary of the death of Benazir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party. According to an official statement issued from Karachi, the entire province of Sindh will observe a public holiday on this day. It is worth noting that Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on December 27, 2007, after a rally in Rawalpindi.
Every year, the Sindh government declares a public holiday on this day, and various ceremonies are held in memory of Benazir Bhutto, organized by the Pakistan People’s Party. According to the police, five police officials were killed in the shooting, and three others, including her husband, were injured. The culprits fled the scene after firing.
In a related development, a 17-page verdict has been issued by Justice Rahil Kamran, rejecting the request of the petitioner to restore his job. The spokesperson of the Motorway Police has stated that three people were injured in the incident, who have been shifted to the hospital.
In a separate incident, a bogie of the Islamabad Express train broke down at the Lala Musa Station, causing delays. Alima Khan has said that the party leader who engages in negotiations is not a member of the founding PTI party.
