The Sindh government has launched a crackdown on thieves stealing electricity in North Karachi’s Khumiso Goth. According to a spokesperson for the Karachi Electric (KE), the thieves attacked the KE staff, leaving two employees injured in the process. The spokesperson stated that a case has been registered against the thieves, who have caused a 40% loss to the affected feeder. The annual loss to the affected feeder is approximately 3.4 million units.
Despite removing the unauthorized connections on a weekly basis, the KE spokesperson claimed that the thieves continue to reconnect them. The KE spokesperson emphasized that no compromise would be made on the safety of the employees. In a separate development, the Director of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions in Sindh has intensified action against private educational institutions that are not implementing the Freedom of Information Law.
Sources close to the MQM claimed that Shumeela Imran Farooq was undergoing cancer treatment in a London hospital. MQM Pakistan’s central leader, Dr. Farooq Sattar, stated that the community policing system cannot be effective until the role of the mayor is clearly defined in the law.
