Veteran batter Sidra Amin (80) and captain Fatima Sana (62 runs and 3 wickets for 39 runs) played pivotal roles in securing Pakistan women’s national team’s qualification for the Women’s World Cup 2025. They achieved this by defeating Thailand in the 12th match of the Women’s World Cup Qualifier at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday.
According to the match details, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first. The Green Shirts had a shaky start, losing four wickets with just 85 runs on the board. However, Sidra Amin and captain Sana forged a crucial 97-run partnership, scoring at a run-a-ball, which provided much-needed momentum to Pakistan’s innings.
For Thailand, Thipatcha Putthawong (2 wickets for 37 runs) was the most successful bowler, claiming two wickets. Phannita Maya (1 wicket for 19 runs) and Onnicha Kamchomphu (1 wicket for 39 runs) each took one wicket.
Chasing a target of 206 runs, the Thailand team struggled and were eventually bowled out for a mere 118 runs within the 35th over.
Pakistan’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Rameen Shamim (3 wickets for 38 runs), Nashra Sandhu (3 wickets for 19 runs), and Fatima Sana (3 wickets for 39 runs), all of whom claimed three wickets each. Sadia Iqbal also contributed with one wicket for 11 runs.
