India’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been recognized as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March 2025, surpassing New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra for the prestigious accolade.
Iyer emerged as the highest run-scorer during the month of March, accumulating an impressive 243 runs and playing a pivotal role in India’s victorious ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign.
His triumph marks the second consecutive Player of the Month award for India, following Shubman Gill’s recognition in February.
Throughout the tournament, Iyer played a crucial role in anchoring India’s middle order, demonstrating composure and skillful stroke play to navigate the middle overs effectively. His ability to stabilize the innings and forge vital partnerships proved instrumental in India’s successful run to the title.
Upon receiving the award, Iyer expressed his gratitude, stating: “I’m truly honoured to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March. This recognition is incredibly special, particularly in a month where we lifted the ICC Champions Trophy — a moment I will cherish forever.”
“Being able to contribute to India’s success on such a significant stage is every cricketer’s dream. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches, and support staff for their unwavering support and belief.”
“A heartfelt thank you to the fans as well — your energy and encouragement keep us going every step of the way.”
The 30-year-old batsman scored 172 of his 243 runs across three matches in March, maintaining an average of 57.33 with a strike rate of 77.47, and delivered several noteworthy performances.
He struck a crucial 79 off 98 balls — including four boundaries and two sixes — in a group-stage victory against New Zealand, helping India post a competitive total of 250 on a challenging pitch.
The batter also contributed a valuable 45 off 62 deliveries in the semi-final win over Australia, before capping off the tournament with a composed, unbeaten 48 off 62 balls in the final, once again against New Zealand, as India clinched the coveted title.
