Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, on Sunday to discuss bilateral ties, regional developments, and mutual cooperation for lasting peace in the region.
During the call, Shehbaz Sharif briefed the Malaysian leader on the current situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, highlighting that Pakistan continues to face cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghan soil. He urged Afghan authorities to take immediate and effective measures against terrorist networks operating from Afghanistan.
The Pakistani premier emphasized that Pakistan had agreed to a temporary ceasefire during Doha talks at the request of Afghan officials. However, he maintained that sustainable peace in border areas requires concrete actions against all terrorist groups.
Shehbaz Sharif further underlined the need for decisive operations against the “Khawarij Fitna,” “Indian-backed elements,” the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed deep concern over rising tensions in the region and reaffirmed Malaysia’s support for Pakistan’s efforts toward regional stability. Both leaders agreed to enhance diplomatic engagement and cooperation within the Muslim world to address shared challenges.
