An 82-year-old Indian farmer, Mohinder Kaur, has vowed to continue her legal battle against Bollywood actress and newly-elected politician Kangana Ranaut, even after the actress offered an apology in court.
The dispute dates back to 2021 during the farmers’ protests when Ranaut allegedly shared a derogatory social media post targeting Kaur. In response, the elderly farmer filed a defamation case against the actress.
Recently, a local court in Bathinda, Punjab, granted bail to Ranaut in the 2021 defamation case. Media reports state that Ranaut formally apologized in court for her past tweet and submitted a bail bond of 50,000 rupees.
However, Mohinder Kaur has refused to accept this apology. “Kangana never met me. I will not forgive her,” she stated. “She is a big actress and political leader, while I am a small farmer, yet she dragged me to court at this age.”
Kaur also dismissed Ranaut’s defense that her words had been “misconstrued,” insisting, “this is not true.” According to the farmer’s family, this legal fight is not for fame or politics but is a “fight for their dignity.”
