Shakira has called off yet another concert, just a day after her scheduled performance in Boston was canceled. The highly anticipated show for the 48-year-old singer, slated for Saturday night at Washington, D.C.’s Nationals Park, has been canceled due to what are being termed “production issues.”
The disappointing announcement was disseminated via the basketball stadium’s official social media channels. “Due to complications with the previous show in Boston, Shakira’s full tour production cannot be transported to Washington, D.C. in time for her scheduled performance at Nationals Park on Saturday, May 31,” the statement read.
“As a result, the D.C. show has been canceled. Despite every effort to make it happen, it is not possible to move forward as planned,” the statement concluded. Shakira herself also conveyed her profound disappointment regarding the concert cancellation in a statement published on the Nationals Park website.
“Because of the unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances that affected me and other artists in Boston, my full tour production is not able to be moved to Washington, D.C. in time for my scheduled performance on Saturday,” the statement began. The “Waka Waka” hitmaker further elaborated, “I have been counting the days, excited to be reunited with my fans in both Washington and Boston, and my team and I have made every effort to make it happen, but it doesn’t depend on any one of us right now, and I am devastated that these shows were just not possible this time.” She added, “I promise that I will do everything in my power to be with you as soon I can. Thank you for your support in these difficult circumstances.”
