Agents from the FBI’s Dallas Field Office are seeking public assistance in identifying and locating a sophisticated suspect wanted for two bank robberies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The first robbery occurred on Wednesday, July 3, at Texans Credit Union on Telecom Parkway in Garland. Dubbed “Derby Desperado” for their stylish attire, the suspect entered the credit union at 1:30 p.m. dressed in a dark-colored suit, a crisp white shirt, a dark tie with light-colored stripes, polished brown shoes, a fashionable light fedora-style hat with a dark band, a white KN95 or surgical mask, and bright blue surgical gloves.
According to authorities, the suspect spoke loudly on a cell phone, approached the teller counter, and passed a robbery demand note. After obtaining an undisclosed sum of money, Derby Desperado fled the scene in a dark SUV.
On Friday, July 12, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the same individual targeted the Capital One Bank on Forest Lane in Dallas. During this incident, the suspect wore a dark suit, a dark shirt, and a light or yellow necktie, again presenting a demand note to the teller. This second robbery mirrored the circumstances of the July 3 incident.
Authorities urge anyone with information about these robberies to contact the FBI Dallas Field Office at 972-559-5000 or submit tips anonymously at tips.fbi.gov.
