KARACHI, Pakistan—Veteran Pakistani actor Behroze Sabzwari has openly criticized the growing trend of men entering into multiple marriages, offering a strong opinion on the sensitive social issue during a recent show appearance. Known for his candid views, the actor did not hold back in his assessment.
Sabzwari, currently earning praise on social media for his performance in the hit Geo TV drama ‘Mehra,’ emphasized that for a man whose first wife is still alive, remarrying is a highly questionable choice.
“If your first wife is present, alive—whether good or bad—she is a great blessing from Allah. Getting married a second time while she is present will be a big trial in your life,” he stated. He further argued that if a man has a good wife, there is no need for a second marriage. His commentary highlights the moral, social, and family responsibilities often neglected when men pursue polygamy.
During the discussion, he cited the example of renowned journalist Iqrar-ul-Hassan, who has married three times. Sabzwari remarked, “Iqrar-ul-Hassan has done three marriages. Now if he does another one, what are we going to do? He was recently on a flight with me, which is why he immediately came to mind.” By speaking out so directly, the actor has brought attention to a socio-cultural topic that is often discussed only in hushed tones within Pakistani society.
