Sean Kanan, who portrays Mike Barnes in the Karate Kid universe, has revealed his plans for a potential spinoff following his appearance in Cobra Kai.
During an interview with Mind Blowing Films, Kanan expressed his desire to team up with his costar Yuji Okumoto, who plays Chozen, for a buddy comedy concept. In this envisioned series, they would be “teaching karate by day and working as detectives by night,” a concept he believes would be “a lot of fun.”
“I think it would be incredible, I’d love to do that,” he stated. “I thought it’d be kind of funny if you had Chozen and Mike Barnes as roommates together, and Mike Barnes is really clean, and Chozen’s like a mess and a slob.”
The actor continued, “And they’re two guys that are trying to navigate the dating scene at 50 years old. Maybe they’re teaching karate by day and working as detectives by night.”
Sean concluded, “I think it would be a lot of fun to do any kind of spinoff. I’d be incredibly honored and excited for something like that. Who knows?”
