Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the rap mogul convicted two months ago on prostitution-related charges, is reportedly seeking a presidential pardon from US President Donald Trump. Nicole Westmoreland, a member of Combs’ defense team, confirmed that they have reached out to the Trump administration to discuss the possibility of a pardon.
In an interview with CNN on August 5, Westmoreland said, “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations about a pardon.” When asked about Combs’ outlook, she stated that the father of seven “is a very hopeful person and I believe that he remains hopeful.”
A White House official, however, declined to comment, telling the outlet they “will not comment on the existence or nonexistence of any clemency request.” This follows previous comments from Trump in a Newsmax interview where he suggested he was unlikely to pardon Combs, citing that the rapper was “very hostile” to him when he ran for office.
In July, the Bad Boy Records producer was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs, also known as Puff Daddy, has been detained at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center in New York since his arrest in September 2024. His legal team has made five unsuccessful attempts to secure his release. Combs is scheduled to be sentenced on October 3, 2025.
