North Texas will see scattered thunderstorms Wednesday night and Thursday morning before a cold front drops temperatures ahead of the weekend.
Temperatures will stay mild through the day Wednesday, but wind and humidity will build as storms move in, KXAS-TV (NBC5) meteorologist Rick Mitchell said.
Wednesday is expected to be cloudy and windy with a 30% chance of rain between 6 p.m. and midnight. Winds from the south will reach 20 to 25 mph, NBC5 reported.
The best chance for rain will be Thursday morning right at daybreak. There’s a 70% chance of rain around 5 a.m., which will drop to 20% by 10 a.m.
Between a quarter of an inch to half an inch of rain is expected in areas north of Denton and in the southeast, near Corsicana.
A cold front from the northwest will arrive about 6 a.m. Thursday, according to NBC5. After the morning storms, the day will be dry and blustery, Mitchell said.
Temperatures will fall below freezing overnight Thursday, but things are expected to warm up to the high 60s over the weekend.
