Boosting Health Services: Pilgrim Safety is the Paramount Concern
RIYADH – The Saudi Ministry of Health has announced a significant and modern decision for the upcoming Hajj season, aiming to make medical services faster and more effective. They will now utilize modern drone technology for the transportation of medicines and blood samples for the pilgrims.
Saudi Health Minister Fahad Al-Jalajel clarified that this move will be a game-changer in saving critical time. He noted that previously, using traditional vehicles to transport medical samples or medicines from one point to another took between one and a half to three hours. With the introduction of drones, this time will be reduced to just five to ten minutes, allowing for timely treatment in emergency situations.
Mandatory Meningitis Vaccine Requirement
The Health Minister also issued a vital medical directive aimed at protecting the health of all pilgrims and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
He announced that the meningitis vaccine is now mandatory for all Hajj pilgrims. He further clarified that while specific vaccines are required for certain nationalities, the meningococcal vaccine is essential for every single Haji. This decision reflects the Ministry of Health’s commitment to prioritizing the well-being of the millions of pilgrims.
