Sarah Jessica Parker has recently clarified her reasoning for not engaging in political posts on her social media accounts. During an appearance on the Best People podcast, she candidly shared that there are more suitable venues for expressing societal views.
The And Just Like That… actress stated, “I often don’t speak on social media because I don’t believe it’s a platform worthy of any genuinely complex dialogue.” Elaborating on why she refrains from sharing her political stance on digital platforms, she continued, “I’m not keen on quick, brief excerpts when the subject involves conflict or even elections at times.”
Parker also noted, “I truly gave significant thought to how I wished to discuss the election because I believe it becomes a diversion from a campaign.” She added, “It transforms into mere material. It’s misconstrued. You have no authority over it. I will not comment on subjects about which I don’t feel adequately informed.”
The 60-year-old actress elucidated, “I am not going to interject myself into truly intricate domains that I feel warrant considerably more contemplation, consideration, and nuance—which I am aware no one is interested in. And I simply feel that I desire to be beneficial. I do not wish to harm something that holds importance to me.” Concluding her thoughts, she still pointed towards the optimistic side, acknowledging that there are “numerous avenues to strive towards a more civil society” and that “FDR was elected without the presence of social media.”
