Neil Patrick Harris has lent his voice to Deadpool in the upcoming virtual reality game, prompting a playful jab from Ryan Reynolds.
In his characteristic witty style, Reynolds shared a social media clip, impersonating the 51-year-old’s character from Doogie Howser, a 1980s sitcom where Harris played a teenage doctor.
“Today I learned a lesson about buttholes they don’t teach you in medical school,” he quipped in an 85-second video. “People who steal your signature role are the biggest buttholes of all.”
To enhance the comedic effect of the parody, Ryan included Robyn Lively, his sister-in-law, who played Michele, Neil’s on-screen love interest in the show.
Meanwhile, the Deadpool virtual reality game is scheduled for release in late 2025, having been announced at the Summer Game Fest. During the event, Twisted Pixel lead design manager Phil Therien provided insights into their vision for delivering the ultimate Deadpool experience to players.
“It’s really all about being the cool, all-encompassing Deadpool experience,” he explained. “He has the weapons, he’s got the wit, the humor, and his own trademark way to solve problems.”
Phil concluded, “We’ve got all that throughout our game, so really, we’ve been kind of bottled up like what it is like to be Deadpool in VR.”
