Ryan Reynolds recently opened up about his regret over having to cut his friend Rob McElhenney’s cameo from the upcoming film *Deadpool & Wolverine*. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the 47-year-old actor shared his deep appreciation for McElhenney, who had generously agreed to a cameo role.
“A word on my ‘darling’ friend, @robmcelhenney,” Reynolds began, posting a series of photos along with his message. He explained that while editing the film, the difficult decision was made to remove McElhenney’s cameo, despite his admiration for his friend’s talent and contribution.
Reynolds revealed that the scene wasn’t working as intended, and even though McElhenney’s presence on set was a great comfort to him, the cameo had to be cut for the film’s overall benefit. “Rob was the only reason it stayed in the cut for as long as it did,” Reynolds confessed, praising McElhenney’s “raw and almost infinite reservoir of talent.”
Despite the disappointment, Reynolds expressed his gratitude for McElhenney’s support during the production, adding a touch of humor by ending the post with “RIP TVA Soldier” and heart emojis.
While McElhenney’s cameo didn’t make it into the final version of the film, *Deadpool & Wolverine* still features an impressive cast, including Hugh Jackman, Chris Evans, Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes, Channing Tatum, and Dafne Keen.
