In the early hours of Saturday, a rocket attack targeted the residence of Mubarak Zeb Khan, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant and a Member of the National Assembly (MNA). This marks the second such incident within a month.
Security sources reported that the rocket was fired late at night, causing partial damage to the entrance of Mr. Khan’s home, which is located in Bajaur district. District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafique confirmed the attack, stating it occurred around 1 AM.
Immediately following the incident, police and other law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. An investigation has been launched to determine the nature and motive of the assault. Police officials added that forensic teams are currently gathering evidence, and multiple angles are being examined.
“This isn’t the first time Mr. Khan’s house has been targeted,” an official stated. “A similar event took place on May 14, when an explosion destroyed the main gate of the same property. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in that incident either.”
The repeated targeting of the MNA’s residence has raised significant concerns about the security situation in the area. Following the attack, security has been tightened in and around the locality. Intelligence and law enforcement agencies have also intensified their efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
Mr. Mubarak Zeb Khan, affiliated with the ruling political party, has been actively involved in local politics and is recognized for his contributions to development initiatives in Bajaur. This district has experienced intermittent violence in recent years due to its proximity to the former tribal belt.
