In southwest Houston, Luke Jones reported on flooding that affected the area in the afternoon. Residents faced significant issues, with many cars getting flooded.
“It started going into my carpets, my car got waterlogged, and now I’m stuck here. I’ve been stuck here for about 30 to 45 minutes,” said Guillermo Serrano, whose car was flooded during the thunderstorm. Serrano, along with his girlfriend and cats, plans to move further inland to Dayton in anticipation of Tropical Storm Beryl.
Emergency leaders are advising residents to prepare emergency storm kits and be ready for power outages.

Galveston County has issued a voluntary evacuation in anticipation of Beryl’s impact. The primary concern on Saturday is the storm surge, with a tropical storm warning currently in effect for the area. Forecasts predict between six and eight inches of rain for Galveston. County Judge Mark Henry urged residents to stay informed with weather updates, secure outdoor items, and prepare emergency kits.
