Ex-registrar alleges unfair treatment in contempt case.
The Supreme Court removed Nazar Abbas over serious lapses.
ISLAMABAD: Former Additional Registrar Judicial Nazar Abbas, recently removed by the Supreme Court over alleged procedural lapses, has claimed that he is facing “double jeopardy.”
In his Intra Court Appeal (ICA), challenging the show cause notice for contempt of court, he argued that he was penalized twice for the same issue—once for non-fixation of cases before the correct bench and again for the alleged wrongful fixation.
He explained that the original order dated January 13, 2025, set the next hearing date for January 27, but it was later changed to January 16, causing confusion.
On January 16, the cases were presented for hearing, but a judge recused himself, leading the bench to reschedule for January 20, 2025.
The bench later issued him a show cause notice for non-compliance and initiated contempt proceedings, which remain pending.
On January 21, he was removed from his post through an office order, citing serious lapses in duty, and directed to report to the registrar’s office.
Nazar Abbas has requested the apex court to set aside the show cause notice, quash the contempt proceedings, and declare the removal order as unlawful.
He also prayed for a stay on the contempt case proceedings and the summoning of the case record for a just decision.
