Officials confirmed on Saturday that rare World War II commemorative shields and other precious artifacts were pilfered from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Parks Department Director General’s office at Frere Hall. An FIR was filed by the deputy director of the Parks Department at the Artillery Maidan Police Station.
According to the FIR, the office was secured at 10 pm on July 4 for the Ashura holidays. Upon the employees’ return on July 7, they discovered a broken rear window and noted that multiple items had been taken. The inventory of missing items consists of five World War II memorial shields, a DVD player, a speaker, and several water taps.
KMC has acknowledged the occurrence and instructed the Parks Department to provide a prompt report. Concurrently, police indicated that endeavors are ongoing to identify and apprehend the culprits, with CCTV surveillance footage currently under scrutiny to assist the inquiry.
