Evening rainfall in Lahore provided relief from the intense heat and humidity, with various parts of the city experiencing light to heavy showers. The rain, accompanied by strong winds in some areas, led to a pleasant change in the weather, and residents expressed their relief from the high temperatures. A spell of heavy rain continued across different parts of Lahore, including Canal Road, Iqbal Town, Thokar Niaz Baig, Gulshan Ravi, and Samanabad. Nishtar Town recorded the highest rainfall at 17 mm, followed by Johar Town with 14 mm and Pani Wala Talab with 8 mm. Officials from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and the district administration have been directed to manage the situation during the downpour.
Taunsa: In Wahova, a tehsil of Taunsa district, heavy rainfall has submerged low-lying areas. The Koh-e-Suleiman hill range also received heavy showers, and a flood surge is anticipated in Rod Kohi Wahova and Rod Kohi Kora.
Nankana Sahib: A hotel roof near Rice Mills in Nankana Sahib collapsed due to the rain, resulting in one death and one injury. Rescue officials identified the deceased as 60-year-old Rehmat Ali, while the injured person, 45-year-old Jafar, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Jatoi: A spell of torrential rain continued in Jatoi and surrounding areas, breaking the grip of heat and humidity. However, several electricity feeders tripped due to the downpour, causing a suspension of power supply.
Thatta: Ongoing heavy rainfall in Thatta and nearby areas has worsened the conditions for flood-affected residents living in the open near the Thatta-Sujawal bridge. Flood survivors are struggling to gather their belongings as the rain persists. Meteorological authorities have predicted more thunderstorms and heavy rain between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. today.
Karachi: Several parts of Karachi experienced rainfall, while others saw dark clouds. Malir, Landhi, Korangi, and Shah Faisal Colony witnessed a drop in temperature following the rain, making the weather pleasant. Earlier, rainfall was recorded near the Super Highway and Nooriabad. The Meteorological Department has forecasted more rain today and tomorrow.
