HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Your chance of rain is going up Thursday, but it will still get hot with a Heat Advisory in effect northwest of Houston.
We’ll be watching disturbances blowing in from the north that will interact with tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. While one of these disturbances could bring us rain in the morning, the rain will most likely hold off until the afternoon hours. Any storm that pops up could produce gusty winds over 40 mph and frequent lightning. With showers and storms blossoming in the early afternoon, Houston will likely dodge hitting 100 degrees for the first time since last Thursday.
How much rain could we get?
Where it does rain, a solid inch will be common. Isolated higher amounts are possible. Since the storms will be scattered Thursday, some of us won’t get any rain at all.
Is there anything worth watching in the tropics?
A Sahran dust cloud is moving toward the Gulf of Mexico. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
