Air quality in Punjab’s major cities, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan, remains at alarming levels, with particulate matter (PM) readings exceeding 300 micrograms per cubic meter in some areas. The highest PM reading of 568 was recorded in the Lahore suburb of Kahna Nau, according to international weather websites.
According to the Punjab government’s website, Lahore recorded 304 PM units, Muzaffargarh 268, and Sheikhupura 267. Health experts warn that this air quality standard is extremely hazardous to human health. The Met Office predicts that western winds will enter the country from December 29, leading to a possibility of rain and thunderstorms from December 30 to January 2.
The air quality is expected to improve with the onset of rain and thunderstorms. The National Cyber Crime Agency has been activated, and there is a zero-tolerance policy for terrorism-related content, said Punjab Home Minister Atta Tarar.
