The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has approved the Ramadan Support Package, which will provide a financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to 42 lakh deserving families during the holy month of Ramadan. The decision was made at a meeting in Lahore to discuss preparations for Ramadan and public relief.
Under the scheme, the government will issue Ramazan cards to needy individuals, which will provide them with cash and other essential items. The cards will be distributed by the district administration, who will visit each household in the region. The cards can be used to withdraw cash from Bank of Punjab branches, Bank of Punjab agents, and ATM machines.
To facilitate free home delivery for essential items, the government has directed the use of Ramazan cards for payment. The cards will also enable beneficiaries to purchase items from designated markets at subsidized rates.
The government has also set up 65 convenience stores across 30 districts in Punjab, which will remain functional during Ramadan. In addition, temporary convenience stores will be set up in 11 districts. The Ramazan support package includes a number of initiatives to ensure that the needs of the poor and vulnerable are met during the holy month.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the government is committed to providing relief to those in need during Ramadan. She emphasized that the government will work to ensure that no deserving family feels left out during the holy month.
The Chief Minister also directed the district administration to ensure that nahras are cleaned and cleared on time. She expressed her dissatisfaction with the current state of cleanliness in Seragodha and directed the DC to take immediate action to improve the situation.
