The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) reported on Friday that two terrorists were killed during an operation in Dera Ghazi Khan. The operation, which took place on Quetta Road, was conducted in response to intelligence about terrorist activities in the area.
According to the CTD spokesman, the confrontation resulted in the deaths of two terrorists, who were reportedly killed by their own accomplices. Two other terrorists managed to escape under cover of darkness. The CTD recovered a significant cache of explosives, rifles, bullets, and a hand grenade from the militants’ hideouts. The militants were allegedly planning large-scale attacks on key installations in the province.
The CTD is currently working on identifying the deceased terrorists and has launched a search operation to capture those who fled. The department reiterated its commitment to ensuring safety in Punjab and eradicating terrorism.
In the past month, CTD Punjab has arrested 33 suspected terrorists during 475 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across the province.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the CTD Punjab for their successful operation, acknowledging their efforts in disrupting the terrorists’ plans. He congratulated the team for their professionalism and effectiveness in neutralizing the threat. Naqvi emphasized the CTD’s role as a key force in combating terrorism, referring to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as “Fitna-al-Khawarij” and underscoring the government’s commitment to addressing terrorist threats.
