Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz delivered several key political and personal statements during an interaction with journalists in London, prominently featuring high praise for the country’s military leadership. She spoke highly of the military chief, whom she referred to as ‘Field Marshal Asim Munir,’ describing the “new appointment” as “very good.” She stated emphatically that “no one could have deserved this post more than him.”
Shifting to the political landscape, Maryam Nawaz referenced a report published in a British journal and stated that there was no room for doubt regarding its contents. She characterized the ongoing political situation as “divine retribution” (Makafat-e-Amal), insisting that she personally had not sought or taken any revenge against opponents.
Responding to a question regarding recent judicial developments, the Chief Minister was critical of the timing, pointedly asking why the judges’ conscience “did not awaken earlier.” She sharply dismissed the moves, terming them “political consciences” rather than genuine steps taken in the pursuit of justice.
She concluded her remarks by offering prayers for the late Benazir Bhutto while firmly asserting her own identity, declaring, “I am Maryam Nawaz; this is my identity.”
