The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on August 9 (Saturday) to commemorate the Urs of the revered Sufi poet and saint, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. As per a notification from the provincial government, all government offices, educational institutions, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils will be closed on 14th Safar, 1447 AH, which corresponds to August 9.
Essential services will be exempt from this order and will continue to operate across the province.
The Urs celebrations traditionally begin on the 14th of Safar, the second month of the Hijri calendar, and continue for three days. The three-day event will feature poetry recitals, literary conferences, and other activities celebrating the Sufi saint’s poetic legacy.
