KARACHI, Sindh— The relentless spread of the Dengue virus continues to plague Pakistan’s Sindh province, with another life tragically lost to the disease within the last 24 hours. According to figures released by the Provincial Health Department, this latest fatality brings the total number of dengue-related deaths to 27 this season, posing a severe public health challenge.
The Health Department confirmed that the latest death occurred in Hyderabad, a city whose healthcare system is already under immense strain. Alarmingly, the department noted a rapid acceleration in the number of cases, with 1,212 new cases of Dengue fever reported across the province in the past 24 hours alone.
These new infections are concentrated in the province’s two major urban centers:
- Hyderabad accounted for 447 new cases.
- Karachi reported 765 new cases.
The statistics indicate that Hyderabad is emerging as a major hotspot for the virus, second only to Karachi. According to health officials, a staggering 7,173 Dengue cases have been reported across Sindh during the current month (November) alone. Health authorities are urgently appealing to citizens to implement precautionary measures and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, as the crisis continues to claim valuable human lives.
