Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan has stepped forward to clarify the party’s stance regarding the military establishment, strongly refuting any claims that PTI founder Imran Khan is anti-Army. The statement underscores the party’s effort to navigate the strained relationship between the political opposition and state institutions.
During a media appearance, Ali Muhammad Khan asserted that Imran Khan’s position has always been clear: the country belongs to him, and the Army, which defends it, also belongs to him. He emphasized that the fundamental disagreement centers solely on the institution’s involvement in the political sphere, arguing that political stability is now a greater threat than terrorism and is essential for economic recovery.
This clarification comes alongside renewed appeals for dialogue from the PTI leadership to bridge the trust deficit.
Concurrently, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan expressed his deep disappointment over the recent ISPR press conference. He stressed that normalization requires crucial steps, primarily allowing meetings with the jailed PTI founder and Bushra Bibi, which he believes would significantly improve the situation.
Barrister Gohar criticized the prevalent atmosphere where state institutions and politicians resort to labeling each other as “mental patients” or national threats, describing this rhetoric as highly regrettable. He reaffirmed that the party’s narrative is pro-Pakistan and has never been, nor will it ever be, anti-state, signalling a strong desire for reconciliation and mutual respect.
