Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Saturday reiterated the party’s stance that its mandate was “stolen in the darkness of the night” during the February 8, 2024, general elections.
Addressing a massive gathering in Swabi, he stated that the people had “made history” on February 8 and were once again demonstrating their strength.
“We secured a lead of 180 seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a two-thirds majority in the province in the name of the PTI founder, while also achieving a single majority in Punjab,” he claimed, adding that despite this, the election results were manipulated.
Rally Draws Massive Turnout
Junaid Akbar, PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president, praised the overwhelming participation of workers in the rally and dismissed claims that PTI supporters had been intimidated.
“You have proven wrong those who said PTI workers are afraid. There is a huge gap between the people and the imposed rulers,” he remarked.
Akbar emphasized that he wanted to see Pakistan’s institutions strong and functioning independently. “This country belongs to us, and we will not allow its future to be dictated by external forces,” he asserted.
He also hinted at an upcoming call from PTI’s founder, urging workers to be prepared. “Very soon, [Imran Khan] will give a call, and you must be ready to respond,” he said.
Call to Boycott Taxes
Junaid Akbar made a bold appeal to PTI supporters, urging them to stop paying taxes until the rule of law is established in the country. “Do not pay your taxes until justice prevails. You must come out in greater numbers than before to reclaim your rights,” he declared.
The PTI leader concluded by thanking party supporters for standing firm despite challenges and vowed that the party would continue its struggle for democratic rights.
