The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has refuted rumors circulating on social media regarding a potential shutdown of YouTube, clarifying that no such directive has been issued.
In an official statement, the PTA spokesperson said, “No instructions have been given to block YouTube or any other social media platform.”
This clarification comes in response to an old press release that has resurfaced online, causing confusion among the public.
“This outdated notification, which was originally issued in September 2012 in compliance with Supreme Court orders at the time, is being mistakenly linked to the current situation,” the spokesperson explained.
The PTA urged the public to rely solely on verified sources for information. “We advise citizens to consult the PTA’s official website and social media accounts for accurate and up-to-date announcements,” the spokesperson added.
